More than 200,000 families, including the Hatfields and McCoys and the descendants of Davy Crockett, are planning reunions this summer. In addition to families, about 150,000 class reunions and 6,000 military groups will be enjoying reunions this summer.
Reunions magazine wondered whether the higher gasoline costs might affect the large number of reunions of all types - family, military and school - that are held this time of year. But according to Editor Edith Wagner, a survey of 2004 reunion organizers showed that these gatherings are so important to most people that they are going on as scheduled, although some people have made a few changes in their plans. Some are leaving the gas-guzzling RVs parked in the driveway and traveling by more fuel-efficient vehicles.
