Here is a great idea! Anyone in the Littleton, Massachusetts, area can spend seven uninterrupted hours working on the local library's computers with full access to two of the most popular for-pay sites: HeritageQuest Online and NewEnglandAncestors.org.
On November 5, 2004, the Reuben Hoar Library in Littleton will close as usual at 4 PM and open again at 5 PM for those who are pre-registered for the lock-in. The first 15 registrants are guaranteed a computer to use until midnight, but additional participants will be admitted with the understanding that a computer workstation may not be available. Of course, everyone can use all of the resources of the Houghton Historical Room, including the vital records from Massachusetts towns and the index to Littleton births and deaths from the town reports.
Participants should have a genealogy project that they are working on. There will be no instruction at the lock-in. Food, at a cost of $8, payable in advance by check to the Friends of the Reuben Hoar Library, will be delivered at 7 PM. Register now at the library's main desk.
