The following is an announcement from the Allen County Public Library:
October 31st Extended Research Hours in the Historical Genealogy Department of the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, IndianaJoin us for this special night on October 31, 2004 in Fort Wayne, Indiana! The Genealogy Department will be open from 1pm until midnight. To participate in these special hours on this special day, you MUST be in the genealogy department at 6pm. No one will be admitted to the library building after 6pm. In staying open until midnight, that gives you another 6 hours to research in one of the most exciting genealogical research collections in the nation!
Some of you might be thinking…I thought the Fort Wayne library was closed. Well, we aren’t! Yes, we are in temporary quarters at 200 E. Berry in Fort Wayne, Indiana until 2006. However, temporary quarters DOES NOT mean reduced material access. EVERYTHING, the books, the periodicals, the microtext sources are all available for research. In fact, our configuration in our temporary location is open browseable stacks. What that means is you can walk up and down the stacks looking through every book we own. And when we return to our newly expanded and renovated library in 2006, our books will still be available to browse!Doesn’t that just sound great? Open stacks, extended hours giving you a total of 11 hours of research on Sunday October 31, 2004. Snacks that evening too!
So why not make plans to join us on Halloween and find your ancestors lurking among the stacks? In fact, come for the weekend, or the following week, or the week before! Our regular hours are Monday – Thursday 9am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday 9am – 6pm, and Sunday 1pm – 6pmm.
Come and join us… you might find your ancestors lurking among the stack of the genealogy department on this Halloween evening!
