Finally, the courts are doing something about all the junk mail promoting various schemes and scams. This week Jeremy Jaynes was sentenced to nine years in prison and Jessica DeGroot was fined $7,500.
Spam is believed to cost billions of dollars to businesses in software aimed at blocking the messages. Jaynes was rated the world's eighth-most prolific spammer by the Register of Known Spam Operations. One has to believe that at least seven other spammers are becoming very nervous right now.
