Lloyd Bockstruck is a well-know genealogy expert who writes and lectures frequently. Lloyd is one of the leading genealogy experts of our time. He heads the genealogy division at the Dallas Public Library and also writes a weekly genealogy column in the Dallas Morning News. I was saddened to receive the following e-mail from Sammie Lee, Library Associate in the Genealogy Section of the Dallas Public Library:
Dear Dick:
The only daily newspaper in the Dallas, Texas, area is The Dallas Morning News. For several decades it has carried the weekly column, Family Tree, authored by Lloyd De Witt Bockstruck since 1991. Recently, the newspaper experienced cutbacks with layoffs, and the editor of the Family Tree column was on the receiving end. For this reason, the newspaper has made the decision not to print the column. Needless to say, we genealogists here in Big D are very disturbed by the cancellation of this very helpful and educational column. We are asking for your help in getting the word out about this development and the help of a writing campaign from genealogists to get this column restored. Calls to the Morning News or e-mail for keeping Lloyd's column should be directed to the following:

Let's encourage the Dallas Morning News to continue providing a service to genealogists in the Dallas area. Please send an e-mail or call the newspaper now.
