GenSmarts online searches fails to create a deposit archive for data found. I attempted to find suggestions on using the data through GenSmarts but found nothing in FAQ or the forum. Since GenSmarts does not allow an open Family Tree Maker 2005 file, copy cut/paste can not be used to input the data. Also the GenSmarts upper bezel (unused areas) could be smaller which would allow larger data windows for usable display fields, this would assist the user in reading the bottom windows' text rather than limited keyhole effect. I am a new user of two weeks, and it does well finding the data. I think the AI maybe somewhat overdone with excess text and rationale for what the user is doing anyway; Searches.

I use Reunion as my genealogy software program. It runs on my IBM clone (I don't run an Apple computer). I have been using this program since 1995 and have between 4,000 and 5,000 names and extensive notes and research citations in it. My Windows program is XP Professional.

Will the GenSmarts program work for me? It sounds like a terrific helper and organizer - something I am in desperate need of!

If there is an uglier logo than GenSmarts, please let me know. Actually it is the color combination that shocks the senses.

Yes. You will need to create a GEDCOM file in Reunion (it is in the menus). Once you have created a GEDCOM file, GenSmarts will read that as your database.

Good question!

I had put Gen Smarts on my Christmas list, but I also like to copy/paste any info into that person's notes and would like a copy of the data found. Am I correct in assuming that you could copy/paste into a word processing file and from there to your database, or keep it as your archive?

Yes. In fact, I copied and pasted information from GenSmarts as I was writing that newsletter article. Perhaps one-third of my article consists of information that was copied and pasted from GenSmarts into a word processor.
