The Pocket Genealogist is a great program for the handheld PocketPC series of computers available from a variety of manufacturers. I use it on my iPAQ system and it also works on Dell, Casio, Acer, Hitachi, NEC, Sharp and others PocketPC handhelds. It does not work on Palm computers, however. Now Kevin Phillips of Northern Hills Software has just announced version 2.92 of the Pocket Genealogist.
This version offers the ability to directly read RootsMagic databases. Anyone using RootsMagic on their desktop system can now import data directly without any need to go through a GEDCOM conversion with all its problems. Events, Notes, Addresses, Tasks, Sources, Citations, Repositories and LDS Ordinances are just some of the information supported by the direct import of RootsMagic data. The Pocket Genealogist will also edit the data.
Additionally, version 2.92 offers improvements to The Master Genealogist and Family Tree Maker imports. All other desktop genealogy programs will work with the Pocket Genealogist through the use of GEDCOM files.
See the Northern Hills Software website for details.
