The following is an announcement from George G. Morgan, President of the International Society of Family History Writers and Editors (ISFHWE):
Dear ISFHWE Members and Mailing List Subscribers,
It is with regret that I announce that Rhonda McClure tendered her resignation as First Vice-President of ISFHWE, effective 1 January 2005.
Rhonda has been a member of ISFHWE for many years and has served in this position since 1 January 2004. However, because of a number of other heavy commitments, including her appointment as Program Co-Chair for the 2006 Federation of Genealogical Societies Conference in Boston, she has opted to relinquish her responsibilities with ISFHWE. We thank Rhonda for her service and wish her every success.
Amy Johnson Crow has been appointed with ISFHWE Board approval to serve as First Vice President in charge of Membership for the remainder of Rhonda's term, and has agreed to run for that office in the upcoming ISFHWE elections to be held in conjunction with the 2005 NGS Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. Amy has already shown her enthusiasm with ISFHWE by stepping up to assume the role of coordinator of the ISFHWE Annual Excellence-in-Writing Competition from long-time coordinator Myra Vanderpool Gormley. Amy is a Certified Genealogist (SM), a native of Ohio, and her current activities in the field of genealogy include her position as Third Vice President of The Ohio Genealogical Society and chair of First Families of Ohio. She is the co-author of Online Roots and served as editor for the NGS Guides series. She has had articles published in Ancestry Magazine, Genealogical Computing, Heritage Quest, and the NGS NewsMagazine. In 2003, she won the International Society of Family History Writers and Editors' Excellence-in-Writing contest for published articles. Her "Heritage Help" column appears in the OGS Genealogy News and she is a past editor of Ohio Civil War Genealogy Journal. Amy received the Distinguished Service Award from the Federation of Genealogical Societies for her work as state coordinator for Ohio for the Civil War Soldiers System project. She is also a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Genealogical Speakers Guild. We welcome Amy as our new First Vice-President and look forward to continuing to work with her.
