Based upon feedback from a couple of newsletter readers, I have now rearranged the site's layout slightly. I have also converted the "Other News" section to a separate blog that can be read in any RSS news reader. Of course, you can still read it in any normal web browser, too.
Previously, the "Other News" section was displayed as a series of links down the right side of the newsletter's blog page at http://blog.eogn.com. The use of three columns made for a "busy" page that was also a bit hard to read. A couple of newsletter readers offered advice on how to make the page easier to read. I have now moved "Other News" to a separate blog, thereby reverting to only two columns on the primary blog page. The resultant pages should now be easier to read.
There are several methods of finding the new "Other News" blog:
- Go to the main newsletter web page at http://www.eogn.com. There you will see a synopsis of both the regular newsletter blog and the new "Other News" blog. Clicking on any article will take you directly to that information.
- Go directly to the new "Other News" blog page at http://eogn.typepad.com/othernews
- On most pages on www.eogn.com, the menus to the left have a link to the new "Other News" section.
- If you are using an RSS news reader, point it to http://eogn.typepad.com/othernews/index.rdf
The "Other News" blog is where you will find links to genealogy-related news articles written by others and posted to various sites on the web. These are articles that I think might interest my readers, written by many different people whom I may or may not know and published on many different web sites, each with its own navigation, editorial style, and content. As always, I welcome your comments and hope you enjoy this extended news service.
