Henry Samson/Sampson was a 16 year old when he accompanied the Edward Tilleys on the 1620 voyage of the Mayflower. He is one of the 26 male passengers known to have living descendants, but he is without a family association to memorialize him. Descendants former Mayflower Society Historian General Caroline L. Kardell and former Governor of the Pennsylvania Society Stacy B. C. Wood, Jr. are hoping to form such an organization. Those interested in joining and helping to organize a Samson association are invited to notify Stacy by e-mail at SWood@SAIL1620.org.
Hello to my fellow Samsons. I am Brendan Samson, youngest son of Arthur Samson and Bridget. I live in New York city and my father came from trinidad
when he was 18 yrs old to start a family here. I know my last name can be traced to the tribe of Dan from biblical times. Samsons are all over the world!

This is a real shot in the dark - I am trying to locate any info on my grandfather - August Kardell who came from Germany - settled in Pgh.,PA -married Amalia Knabenschuth (??), was widowed, then married my grandmother Anna Valeria Wishenwsky. From Pgh they went to Elberta, Alabama, had 10 children, working/living on a farm. After he died, my grandmother came back to Pittsburgh. I cannot locate any ship passage records, etc. regarding his coming to America. Does Caroline Kardell know anything about August Kardell or relatives? Any suggestions on how to start this quest would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Fran Kardell Fabian

The SAMSON/SAMPSON family probably relate back to two brothers who came sometime to England from Normandy after the Norman conquest, 1066 onwards. They became fairly widespread. With branches in Suffolk, Yorkshire, Bedfordshire, Devon and Cornwall and elswhere. There is a lot of information already know. I'm on the verge of forming a one-name society. Let me know if you have any obvious links to the UK ancestors

My mother was born a Samson. Her father was William George and her mother Doris Eva (nee Martel). We hail from and live in Guernsey in the Channel Islands. On the island, one of our parishes is called St Sampson's. I wonder if we are descendents of the original Samson chaps from France. Perhaps someone out there can help me. There are quite a few records over here for Samsons and they're all in the Priaulx Library with free access if anyone's interested. Guernsey is a lovely place for a holiday if you fancy doing some research at the same time by the way! If anyone can assist me in my hunt for my ancestors though, I'd be very grateful. With thanks.

I, too, am related to Henry Samson through the Sprout line......However, my mother's maiden name was Sproat...see change in spelling. Would be very interested in any documented details from this line.

Hello All!
My name is Scott Sampson, and I am the eleventh generation of Henry Samson, form his son Caleb. I know of Henry's father Jmaes, Of Henlow, Bedfordshire, and his father John who moved to Henlow from Compton in the early 16th century. I have read of a Samson who fought under William at Hastings, and so was granted land in Bedfordshire and Gloustershire. I have no idea whether or not this is of the same line. I would love to have some hard data predating Henry.

They were in Huntingdon Co PA 1850 Cs, in Jefferson Co. Iowa in 1855. Their dau. Lydia m. John Lemmons
Blakely and are my g grandparents. I found them in the 1841 Cs, of Cornwall Co Eng. at Nanturas, Folio 28, p. 25. Have good descendency, Alma Spragg

My name is Samual Sproat and I'm 17 from Fort Wayne, Indiana and I was looking for where my family is from because I'm very interested in that stuff but my family had rather tell me when I ask "what is our ancestry" they tell me "we are American" and I think it's because they are terrified of the world besides America but yeah I know I'm not 100% American since I'm not Native American.... My Fathers last name is Kohaut if that helps me any.
e-mail me if you want at SamualSproat@yahoo.com or AIM- Chelseafcen and we can talk. thank you

I am so proud of my Henry. Can you imagion going across the vast ocean not knowing what to expect at the age of 16? I have Grandsons that age and I cannot think of them doing it. I wonder if he was afraid at night or sick, anything could and did happen. In those days he was considered a man and was not allowed to show fear should it affect his manhood and shame him in front of his peers. Bravo Henry and Bless you for giving me the right to say I'M an AMERICAN, Proud and FREE

Evidently there is no way to contact someone unless you give the email address here? anyway, mine is archangelkh@hotmail.com, but be sure to mention Samson or Sprout or Shields in the subject area or i won't spot it. Thanks, Karyn Hannigan

I am a decendant of Henry Samson and Ann Plummer through their daughter, Elizabeth Samson. I can trace my lineage forwards and backwards and I find that it connects with Ebenezer Richmond, a decendant of Thomas Rogers who was also on the Mayflower! I am excited to have come across all of this cool information! If you'd like to contact me try this: Marylev_35@yahoo.com
