The maps are great I think but the photo's of my area
47362 New Castle IN. are in black & white but you can see the toombstones in the cemetery across town.

Two addreses I tried were not "exact" but close to the house number specified. Detail was similar or lower quality than one site I tried a few weeks ago.

I just want to do it not read about it. How do I do that?

Go to http://maps.google.com. Next, enter an address or a longitude and latitude or any of several other options, such as the phrase "pizza" followed by your ZIP code. Google then displays a map of whatever you asked for. If you look closely, you will note a new link in the upper right corner that did not exist before Monday. It says "Satellite." Click on that you will be rewarded with a satellite view of the same area as the map you were looking at.

this has been a long time coming and i salute google for there efforts! the satellite imagery is great....certain areas of northern ontario, canada have darker rectangular areas....in these areas you can zoom up to the max......in all the other areas you can only get about 4 zoom graduations from the top.....i can't wait until they get this cured if it's possible...great tool for any outdoorsman....thanks google!

Is it possible to put google maps on an ipaq pda and at what cost? Thanks

The images are from their Google Earth program (free version), which you can also download to your desktop (requires Windows XP). These images are about three years old (judging from what I can see in my neighborhood of northeast Spokane, Washington). Google Earth is a lot of fun in that you can "fly" from one location to another, as well as tilt the angle of the images at which you are looking. Very large cities (New York, San Francisco, etc.) can be viewed with the building option, so that you can see the height of the skyscrapers.

I went to Erie County, New York on Google Earth, and "drove" down the old roads to "visit" my ancestral locations by tilting the angle and scrolling my mouse. Gave me a great idea of what it is like to actually be in the area.

Regarding the topic of Google Maps, I like that they have combined the maps with their Earth program, and especially like the "hybrid" feature.
