The following is an announcement from the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania:
Summer Camp for Family Historians 2005
19-24 June 2005Attention all genealogists and family historians with interests in Philadelphia and southeastern Pennsylvania research opportunities. GSP's innovative summer camp program, presented this year for the sixth time, will again offer participants full instruction and guidance at all the major record repositories in Philadelphia. Join with GSP staff, librarians, archivists and professional genealogists as they introduce you to the extensive holdings in Philadelphia libraries and record offices.
Daily instruction will be provided at The Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, the National Archives, Philadelphia City Hall and Philadelphia City Archives, and the Free Library of Philadelphia.
A special hotel rate is available at the Holiday Inn Express, a short walk to GSP, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia City Hall. Summer "campers" also enjoy evening activities including dinners and a research night at the GSP library.
As a bonus offering, this year's Summer Camp participants can elect to add two additional days of research to their itinerary. Following your one week of instruction in Philadelphia, "campers" can spend the weekend researching on your own or spend the weekend visiting the many historic sites in old Philadelphia. Then on Monday and Tuesday, 27-28 June, GSP has arranged for your camp counselors to meet you at your choice of four suburban historical societies and archives in Bucks County, Chester County, Montgomery County and Friends Historical Library in Swarthmore, where once again you will receive personal attention with your research.
To ensure each participant receives personal attention, registration is limited to 32 campers.
