Genealogists are experts at finding information about people. To be sure, most of the people we seek have been dead for some time. Yet the methods of finding information about a great-grandparent are quite similar to finding information about living people. As a result, I've met a number of expert genealogists who are also amateur or professional private detectives or other sorts of "people finders." Now a new web site makes such a search even easier: it finds living people with ease. I bet your name, address and date of birth are easily found by this web site as well.
Personal information in the U.S. is a multibillion-dollar-a-year industry. Some people may feel that the ease of access to personal information is shocking. Perhaps it is; but, the data has been out there for years and has always been available to everyone. Finding and retrieving that data has not always been easy. The only thing that has changed in recent years is that some companies have packaged the information in a manner that makes it easily available to everyone.
