Here is a list of the genealogy newsfeeds that I monitor. When you obtain an RSS newsreader, you can use this list to get started quickly. If you prefer, you can even download this file by clicking here and saving it as GENEALOGY.OPML on your hard drive.
NOTE: If asked, enter a user name of anonymous. (Not all web browsers will ask.) No password is required.
You can then import GENEALOGY.OPML into your RSS newsreader. (In most RSS newreaders, click on FILE and then on IMPORT. However, the instructions may be different on your RSS newsreader.)

The Wisconsin Historical Society uses RSS feeds to notify the public of new materials added to their collection, and news of what's going on with their organization:

Probably the only historical/genealogical society I've seen that has actually put RSS into good use.

When the link to the opml file is clicked upon in Firefox it opens a new tab but does not download the file as is the ususal action with most files. If this page is saved and then SAGE a Firefox newsreader is asked to import it the report is that this is not an opml file. So the question is, does this link require some special handeling?

I suspect that action is unique to SAGE. It worked OK for me in Firefox for Windows. I saved it to disk and then later imported it with a different RSS newsreader.
