NOTE: There is no genealogy information in this article, other than perhaps a comment that I hope this sort of thought process isn't inherited. Yet this is too good to not share it.
According to the Boston Herald newspaper, police in Rockland, Massachusetts have some rather good photographs of accused bank robber Kevin Donovan. They got the pictures from Donovan's web site. Even better, the pictures were taken at the Rockland Police Station as publicity shots for his rock band!
Most of the time, police depend upon grainy mug shots or even a police artist's interpretation of an eyewitness' description. Not this time. It seems that accused bank robber Kevin Donovan is the lead singer in the rock band, Gun Dog. He is also the son of Rockland police chief, Kevin M. Donovan.
The younger Donovan and his rock band staged a publicity photo shoot at the town's police station about three months ago, including spoof shots of Donovan locked in a cell. “The leader of the band asked if they could come in and do some publicity photos here as a promo for a CD they had coming out,” Deputy Chief John Llewellyn said. “The chief, trying to help out his son as any father would, said OK.'”
Several of the pictures were later posted to the band's web site. Now it seems that at least four local police departments south of Boston are looking for the younger Donovan as a suspect in a rash of bank heists going back several weeks. Police in Brockton, Stoughton and Raynham have issued arrest warrants for Donovan, and Rockland police are looking at him as a possible suspect in a bank robbery there, authorities said. Another bank was hit in Attleboro and police there suspect that it may be a related incident.
The elder Donovan was on vacation yesterday and couldn't be reached for comment.
“We're offering a $500 reward. We just hope to get him arrested before somebody puts a bullet in him,” said Raynham Deputy Police Chief Louis Pacheco.
