AnyBirthday.com is (or was) a controversial web site that allowed anyone to search a free database of well over 135 million records for the names, birth dates, and zip codes of almost everyone born in the United States. The site was cited by many as being an invasion of privacy as well as a source of information for those who wish to commit identity theft. Now the web site appears to be dead.
Admittedly, AnyBirthday.com also had some good uses, especially for genealogists. It was especially good for locating long-lost relatives. It was also very useful for anyone conducting one-name studies or for those planning reunions for everyone of the same surname.
You can read my earlier review of AnyBirthday.com here.
AnyBirthday.com and its sister site, LocateMe.com, have apparently been offline for several weeks. LocateMe.com provided the last known name and address of people for a fee. A visit to http://www.AnyBirthday.com now produces an error of "404 - Site not found." If you visit http://www.LocateMe.com, you see a message of "This domain name expired on 06/23/2005 and is pending renewal or deletion."
AnyBirthday.com is listed as registered to American Automated Systems, 304 Navaho St., Louisville, Ohio 44641. A call to their offices at 330-489-7128 produces a recording that the number has been disconnected and that no further information is available.
