The Genealogy Society of Norway (DIS-Norge) is compiling a database of cemetery transcriptions. Many church web sites are also involved, adding their records to the effort.
The DIS is the largest association of genealogists in Norway, and their website reportedly has nearly 180,000 images of gravestones, according to the newspaper Vårt Land. However, I looked at the site this week and couldn't find them. That is probably because most of the site is in Norwegian, and I found myself unable to navigate the site in a language that is strange to me. Perhaps a newsletter reader who reads Norwegian can help a bit here by posting information in English to the end of this article so that everyone can read it.
