Under the European Union Interreg Celtic Tri programme to promote the shared culture and documentary heritage of Wales, Waterford and Dublin, John Grenham has been appointed Genealogist-in-Residence at Dublin City Library and Archive for six months, to the end of January 2006.
In this role he will be visiting the Celtic Tri partners, assisting in the digitisation of Dublin city voters lists, giving a number of public lectures, offering consultation and advice on family history to members of the public, and helping to broaden awareness of family history among Dublin city library staff. John is the author of a number of books, including Clans and Families of Ireland, (Dublin, Gill & Macmillan, 1993), An illustrated History of Ireland, (Dublin, Gill & Macmillan, 1997), Irish Ancestors (2004) and the well-known guide Tracing your Irish Ancestors (2nd ed. 1999, 3rd ed. forthcoming, 2006). He is also the author of the software programs Grenham's Irish Recordfinder, and Grenham's Irish Surnames (Eneclann, 2003). In association with The Irish Times, he runs the Irish Ancestors website.
