CemEditor2 is a Windows program that organizes and manages cemetery photos and transcriptions into a searchable database. Data may be entered by hand or by reading files from other database or spreadsheet programs. CemEditor2 also includes features to publish information on CD-ROM disks as well as web pages, books, and books with pictures.
CemEditor2 is designed for individuals searching their ancestry, family historians, groups, genealogy and historical societies, cemeteries, and other organizations desiring to organize a cemetery transcription. The transcriber enters inscription information contained on the monuments, which will go into the database. The CemEditor includes features to publish information on CD. It works with or without pictures. The only limitation to the database size is the amount of information that can be placed on one CD-ROM disk, typically about 700 megabytes. One CD-ROM disk typically will hold more than 5,000 names and 10,000 to 15,000 pictures of 640 by 480 pixels each. Larger photos will also work although obviously you won't be able to place as many on one CD disk.
If you already have the cemetery transcriptions entered in a database or spreadsheet, you can import the data directly into the Editor by first saving the information as a CSV file. All spreadsheets and most databases have the capability to save files in CSV format.
CemEditor2 requires Windows 95 or later and a modest amount of memory and disk space. In other words, it should operate on most any Windows computer produced in the past ten years. If you wish to create CD-ROM disks, you will also need a CD writer and appropriate software.
CemEditor2 sells for $28.99 plus $3.20 shipping (to U.S. addresses), a total of $32.19 in US dollars. There is no free trial version.
