Arlington, Va. - At its most recent board meeting, the National Genealogical Society approved the addition of two members to its Board of Directors.
Returning to the board is Lynda Childers Suffridge of North Little Rock, Arkansas. Suffridge is retired from the Arkansas History Commission and has additional professional experience with the Arkansas House of Representatives. She also has extensive experience in education and was an assistant professor at the Arkansas State University. Suffridge is active within the genealogical profession and has served as past-president of Heritage Seekers, North Little Rock, Arkansas; editor of the Perry County Historical & Genealogical Society Newsletter; board member of the Arkansas Genealogical Society; and past-president of the Arkansas Genealogical Society She also serves as Chair of the NGS Consumer Protection Committee.
New to the NGS board is David C. Moon of Alpine, Utah. Since 1996, Moon has been a General Partner of EsNet, Ltd., an investment management company focusing on technology investments and real estate. His previous work experience includes a broad range of roles in technology, computer science, and corporate management. Previously, he served as the Chief Technology officer and Senior Vice President of Development at WordPerfect prior to its merger with Novell. After leaving Novell, Moon served for three years as Chief Information Officer for the State of Utah. As a member of Governor Leavitt's cabinet and senior advisory staff, he was responsible for overseeing and coordinating all information services and technology initiatives. Currently he serves on a number of private corporate boards, including MyFamily.com.
Founded in 1903, the non-profit National Genealogical Society is one of the nation's largest and most respected organizations devoted to genealogical research. The Society provides leadership along with a wide variety of educational programs for individuals, societies, libraries and institutions.
