At the suggestion of several newsletter readers, I am now offering the Plus Edition of this newsletter every week in a new version: text-only.
The text-only version is in ASCII text only; it has no advertising, images, HTML code, hyperlinks, font sizes, bold, underline, italics, or other formatting. The text-only version simply has words, nothing else.
The text-only version will be updated once a week and will contain all Plus Edition articles as well as Standard Edition articles from this newsletter. It will not contain any advertising.
The new version was created because of several issues:
- The text-only version will consume less paper, if printed.
- The text-only version will be much better for visually impaired subscribers who read the newsletter by using text-to-audio devices.
- When viewing the text-only version in a web browser, it is easy to increase or decrease the font size as you wish, using your web browser's commands. (Look under VIEW in the pull-down menus of your web browser.) You can do this on any web page, but doing so on a text-only page will help people with vision problems.
- Those who read the newsletter in web browsers on Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, Google Mail, or other web-based e-mail systems often have difficulties printing the newsletter. Those e-mail services insert lots of advertising and other "unwanted stuff" along the margins, making for much longer print-outs than necessary. You should be able to print the text-only version of the newsletter without any extraneous advertising being included.
To read the text-only version of Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter - Plus Edition, go to http://eogn.com/plusedition/news.txt and enter your Plus Edition user name and password.
NOTE: All Plus Edition subscribers obtained a user name and password when they subscribed. If you have forgotten your user name or password, you can retrieve both at the same place. When asked for your user name and password, simply enter your e-mail address into the THIRD box, labeled "Lost password?" Your user name and password will be sent to you in e-mail within 2 or 3 seconds. (If you do not receive it, look in your spam mail folder. Lots of spam filters will put it there.)
