This week I will be traveling to St. George, Utah, to attend the Genealogy and Family Heritage Jamboree to be held Friday and Saturday at the Dixie Convention Center. This event is sponsored by My Ancestors Found with a lot of assistance from the Washington County PAF User's Group. Given the long list of presenters and vendors to be at the event, this is shaping up to be one of the larger genealogy conferences this year in North America.
St. George is in the southwest corner of Utah, close to both the Arizona and Nevada borders. It is about a six-hour drive from Salt Lake City. However, I am flying to Las Vegas, which I am told is only a two-hour drive away from the conference center.
The presenters will include: Andrew Pomeroy, Arlene H Eakle, Art Lassagne, Baerbel K Johnson, Billy Edgington, Bruce Buzbee, Claire V Brisson-Banks, D Joshua Taylor, Darlene Odenwalder, Darris G Williams, David Pugmire, David W Moore, DearMYRTLE, Dennis Meldrum, Dick Eastman, Donald R Snow, Gaylon Findlay, Geoff Rasmussen, Glen Fairclough, Gordon Booth, Holly T Hansen, Howard Larson, Janet Hovorka, Jay G Burrup, Jay Speyerer, Jeanne Jensen, Jennifer H Johnson, Jeri Jump, John Kitzmiller, Jon & Loretta Shupe, Joshua D Taylor, Joyce Parsons, Judith E Wight, Karen Clifford, Kimberly A Savage, Laura Best, Leandro Soria, Leland K Meitzler, Lynn C Anderson, Marlene Coleman, Marlo Schuldt, Mary Lynn Sharpe, Michael T Booth, Patricia Kent, Paul G Nauta, Paul Larsen, Ralph Erickson, Richard E Black, Robert Booth, Ron Taylor, Rose Marie Morrell, Rosemary Harris, Russell Lynch, Ruth Ann Rose, Ruth Ellen Maness, Shanna Jones, Sharon Sergeant, Stephen Valentine, Tom Underhill, Tracy Long, Trina Boice, and William Dollarhide.
I know many of these presenters and can assure you this is a high-powered group. A large vendors' hall also is about fully booked.
If you can be in St. George at the end of the week, I am sure you will enjoy this conference. You can read more about it at http://www.myancestorsfound.com/jamboree/jamboree.htm.
If you can make it to this conference, please stop by Booth # 103/104 in the Exhibit Hall and say "Hi." I will be there, promoting this newsletter and meeting readers. I'd love to hear your comments and suggestions for future newsletter articles.
I will be taking my digital camera and hope to post a few online pictures from the conference. Depending on my schedule and the connectivity available from the conference center and hotel room, I hope to also post an article or two about the events at this conference.
I will attempt to post articles to this newsletter's web site every day. However, I will be at the mercy of wireless networks and other variables not under my control. Don't be surprised if I "disappear" for a day or two. Next week's newsletter may also be delayed. I normally publish the Plus Edition on Sunday, but next Sunday I will be traveling cross-country. I doubt if the newsletter will be delayed more than twenty-four hours, however.
See you in St. George!
