Newsletter reader Brenda Roberts wrote this week to describe a fascinating resource for genealogists: eBay. Brenda wrote:
Dear Dick,I have enjoyed your newsletters for four years. I have learned a lot through your editorials.
Thus, I want to give back something interesting, in which I found by browsing through eBay.
eBay has a category of antique bibles which most buyers buy for the ornamental design. I noticed though, many of them have family trees listed in them. Many sellers will list the surnames in the item's comments.I did a search for quite sometime, thinking I might find some of mine. No luck, though. My ancestors were German, so it was difficult to find without proper translation software.
For English, Scottish, and Irish ancestors, this would be a great place to find some possible history.
They even have a place where a buyer can watch a particular item that is of interest to them and then eBay will send a watch alert to the designated email box.

Thanks for the "heads up," Brenda. Hopefully, some of us can "rescue" these resources.
