According to the Guardian Unlimited gossip column at http://film.guardian.co.uk/news/story/0,,1727167,00.html, Scott Marshall Smith is to direct the comedy Once And Future King, about an Australian farmer who is discovered to be the true king of England, according to recent genealogy research.
In echoes of the John Goodman movie King Ralph, the plot is based on recent genealogical research suggesting that Edward IV may have been illegitimate. The true king is therefore revealed as Mike Hastings, 14th Earl of Loudoun, who lives with his family in Jerilderie, New South Wales, Australia.
No casting details have yet been announced, but one assumes Paul Hogan is waiting by the telephone with baited breath.
Paul Hogan to be the King of England? Now THAT sounds like fiction!
