The many friends of Leland Meitzler will be delighted to learn that he has landed on his feet, back in the genealogy publishing business. Leland has been named Managing Editor of Everton's Genealogical Helper.
Leland has been a highly visible figure in the genealogy business for years, most recently as owner of Heritage Creations, publisher of HeritageQuest Magazine. The company suffered business problems and folded a few weeks ago. Details are available at http://blog.eogn.com/eastmans_online_genealogy/2006/02/heritage_creati.html.
Now Walter Fuller, President and Publisher of Everton Publishing, has announced that Leland is joining the company as the Managing Editor at one of Leland's former competitors.
The announcement is available at http://announcements.eogn.com/2006/04/evertons_geneal.html.
It's great to see Leland back in the genealogy business. I think this is a good deal for both Leland and for Everton Publishing. That's a win-win.
Wow, this is wonderful news! It certainly is a win win. I have enjoyed the Heritage Quest magazine for years and it had terrific information and am glad to hear there will be many more contributions to the genealogy community by Leland. Congratulations to Everton by their excellent choice in their new editor!

It is a true pleasure to see Leland join you and to receive your newsletter, etc. I am among the tens of thousands who are weary of being required to pay exorbitant fees for much of what is our own material and research.
The "pay for genealogy" sites such as Ancestry.com have overcharged for such information as long as they have been in business. Their census sites are helpful; beyond that one is more likely to gain help and answers from county genealogical and historical societies than to find it at such "pay for" websites.
