New Ancestry.com Card Catalog
Ancestry.com has 23,775 databases available to search and the number keeps getting bigger. That can be confusing! The company has now released a new Ancestry Card Catalog to help you find the database you need. The Card Catalog is a free tool.. You can search by keyword or title and narrow that search by date or location.
You can find the Card Catalog by going to http://www.ancestry.com and clicking on the Search Tab, then clicking on the Card Catalog link on the right hand side of the page under the section "Search Resources." A faster path is to double-click on this link: http://www.ancestry.com/s20918/t7637/e/rd.ashx.
You can read more about this new tool and how to use it on the Family History Circle blog written by Juliana Smith at http://blogs.ancestry.com/circle/?p=228.
Thanks for the information about this new "Card Catalog". I used it a bit and it works fine....except it doesn't seem to be quite as refined as other search engines....i.e. putting the closest match at the top of the list. That isn't a problem if you only get 39 hits, but if you get 3,546 hits, then it's a problem!!!
