EOGN Podcasts on iTunes
If you have one of the popular Apple iPod music players, you might be interested to know that you can easily download this newsletter's podcasts and listen to them later while jogging, commuting, or any other time you wish. Apple is now carrying the EOGN podcasts on iTunes at no charge.
Most people who own iPods use iTunes to obtain music, podcasts, and other material. In fact, some of the latest iPods will even display television programs that have been downloaded (for a fee) from iTunes.
If you already have iTunes installed on your Windows or Macintosh system, click on PODCASTS and then type "genealogy" in the search box to find my podcasts as well as other genealogy-related material. My podcasts are available free of charge, either on iTunes or on the newsletter's web site at http://www.eogn.com.
You do not need an iPod to listen to podcasts. Any modern computer that is equipped with speakers or headphones will work if you go to http://www.eogn.com.
My thanks to Penny Hartzell for letting me know that the EOGN podcasts have now appeared on iTunes.

I just purchased a CD player that will play MP3 when burned to a CD. My question is how do I download the podcasts to my computer so I can burn them to a CD and listen to them on my daily walks via CD player. I can access iTunes, but I don't have an iPod.

Click in the link in the podcast announcement that says "MP3 file." You can download that and store that on your computer.

Donna,
Here is what I do:
Go to Itunes. You may have to sign up and download some software but don't worry, it is Apple Computer! With the itunes installed, click on the itunes icon and you will go to the Music Store. Click on PODCASTS. Do a search for GENEALOGY and up will come Dick as well as Gen Guys and a couple others. You can subscribe to any of them and whenever you fire up itunes (and you're online) it will check to see if there are any new podcasts for any that you have subscribed to. Click on "get" and it will download whatever podcast you choose. After it is downloaded, it will appear in your library. Click the little box next to the downloaded podcast so that there is a checkmark in front of it. Now, go to FILE and click on NEWPLAYLIST. That will create a folder and you can drag and drop the podcast that you want into the folder. Open the folder and your chosen podcast should be there - make sure the box has a check mark. Click on BURN DISK in the upper right hand corner and it should then give you instructions to insert a blank cd and it will burn it for you. You can put several casts on one cd as they hold about 60 or 70 minutes. I listen to the cds in my car and it makes the drive from California to Salt Lake City (FHL) so much fun.
I do hope this made sense and you can follow it. Let me know if you have any questions.
PS There may be an easier way to do it, but this works for me and it is easy once you get the hang of it.
