New Chief Operating Officer Named at New England Historic Genealogical Society

The following is an announcement from the New England Historic Genealogical Society:

The New England Historic Genealogical Society (www.NewEnglandAncestors.org) is pleased to announce that Thomas R. Wilcox, Jr., will join the staff of NEHGS as Chief Operating Officer on July 5, 2006.

He brings to the job more than a decade of nonprofit experience as Executive Director and CEO of the Maine Maritime Museum (www.mainemaritimemuseum.org) in Bath, ME, and more than twenty years of experience in the financial services industry. Known for his hands-on leadership, team building skills, and planning and communications abilities, he will report to the Society’s President and CEO, D. Brenton Simons. Mr. Wilcox will oversee the Society’s business operations, including Internet Services, Finance, Marketing, Membership, Library, and Scholarly Programs. During his tenure at Maine Maritime Museum, he oversaw numerous operations, including a museum complex, a library, as well as education, finance, development, and marketing departments and other special initiatives. He has extensive experience in strategic planning and business development and is a past president of the Council of American Maritime Museums and a past trustee of the Mystic Seaport Museum.
