New Upcoming Events Listings

I am delighted to announce a new format for the Upcoming Events articles in this newsletter. Starting today, all the listings for future genealogy conferences and other meetings are available in an online database at http://www.eogn.com

I will publish the list once a month as a newsletter article, probably on the first day of each month. However, any time you want to see the latest version of the list, you can go to the navigation section near the top right of the newsletter's main page and click on "Upcoming Events" to see up-to-the-minute listings of events.

You will see a list of all the future events listed in the database. You will see one line per event, showing the event name, place and date(s). This compact listing makes it easy for you to scan the events. Full details of any event are just one mouseclick away. Simply click on an event's name to see all its details, including a link to the event's web site with even more details.

The new online database offers many new features:

1. You can automatically add events to your computerized calendar without copying-and-pasting. Calendars supported include:

  • Microsoft Office Outlook Calendar
  • Yahoo Calendar
  • Hotmail Calendar
  • Apple iCal
  • Google Calendar
  • Trumba Calendar

2. You can have a reminder e-mail automatically sent to you in advance of the event. You can even specify the number of days in advance that you wish to be reminded.

3. You can automatically be reminded by a text message to your cell phone in advance of any event that you select. You can even specify the number of days in advance that you wish to be reminded.

4. You can quickly send an e-mail to a friend that contains all the details of the event.

5. You can be automatically notified of all updates to the list if you use an RSS newsreader. Copy and paste the address of http://www.trumba.com/calendars/eogns_calendar.rss into that newsreader.

6. You can automatically be notified by e-mail of any changes in events that you select.

7. You can easily print a list of all the events by clicking on the PRINT link.

If you would like to see your event listed in future newsletters, send an e-mail to: meetings@eogn.com. You must include either a Web page that gives details or an e-mail address for the organization or for someone within the organization who is willing to supply the meeting details upon request.

If you have any comments on the new Upcoming Events database, please post them below.
