Well, I was certainly interested in exploring your new online bookstore at RootsBooks.com.

Unfortunately, I couldn't see a thing because the RESPONSE TIME to any click was soooo slooooow. It took forever for the home page to load, then I had to wait some more for the scroll bar to work.
And when I tried to click on a state, nothing happened. Again, I had to wait, and wait, and wait. Finally, the Connecticut page loaded, but then the scroll bar wouldn't work again.

I suppose if I had waited long enough it would have eventually come to life. But by that time I was exasperated enough to just quit.

Too bad... I would be curious to see what's there.

Let us know when the response time has been fixed. I may just try it again.

After reading your commens, I went to www.RootsBooks.com and tested it a bit. Every screen repainted completely within 3 or 4 seconds when I tried it.

Good luck with your RootsBooks.com venture, Dick!

In your announcement, you wrote that you opened with an inventory of more than 2,500 books. When I looked at the site again today and clicked "All Books," it showed that you now have 6,359 books. As you continue to add books, would it be possible for you to create a "Recent Additions" tab? Then we wouldn't have to click on multiple tabs and read through the results list for each one.

Major new items added to the store will be announced on the home page at http://www.rootsbooks.com. I suspect I'll update that one page about once a month or so. I may also occasionally add a new book to that page just after I write a review of the book and publish the review here.

Thanks for the suggestion!

It seems though, that once one has entered the store with Dick's chosen selection of books, you're at the mercy of Amazon? - a search I tried for

Borders

returned all sorts of hits on quilt borders and other things quite unrelated to genealogy in the south of Scotland.

Just a heads up. Earlier today I purchased one of these books from Amazon. It's an older book and Amazon itself was out out of stock, so I bought a used one, sharply discounted, from a Amazon-partner reseller. At the same exact price your site is offering it now. Is Amazon passing you used book info without disclosing in the description that the book is used?

Dick Eastman

Amazon passes the exact same information as you see at Amazon.com.
