U.K. Genealogy Skypecast and "Open Topic" Skypecast

Skypcast_4 This is a quick reminder that we now have regularly scheduled genealogy Skypecasts. These are genealogy "conference calls," but we do not use telephones. Instead, you may join in by plugging a headset into your computer's headphone and microphone jacks, then downloading the free Skype software from http://www.skype.com. The software is available for Macintosh, Windows, and Linux computers. All Skypecasts are free of charge with no toll calls involved, even though participants are often on different continents. Instead of talking over telephone lines, we are talking over the Internet.

The weekly "open topic" Skypecast is held every Thursday evening in the U.S. This is mid-day Friday in Australia/New Zealand and in the wee hours of Friday morning in Europe. The start time is 10:00 PM Eastern U.S. time, 7:00 PM Pacific time and 2:00 AM (Friday morning) GMT.

There is a countdown timer near the top of http://www.eogn.com that shows how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds are left until the beginning of the next Skypecast.

As the name implies, "open topic" Skypecasts have no predefined agendas. We talk about whatever you wish to discuss.

The next U.K. Genealogy Skypecast will be held on Saturday, September 16, at 3:00 PM Eastern U.S. time, 12 noon on the U.S. West coast. That is 8:00 PM British Daylight Time, 7:00 PM GMT. Obviously, this Skypecast is devoted to the topic of researching ancestors in England, Wales, and Scotland. (Ireland will be covered in separate Skypecasts later.) The U.K. Genealogy Skypecast will be informal with no formal presentation or "lessons." We will chat about whatever you wish as long as the topic remains focused on U.K. genealogy.

To join any Skypecast, click on the link near the top of http://www.eogn.com. You cannot actually join in until the Skypecasts begin at the scheduled time.

See you (or "hear you") then!
