Newsletter reader Dick Hillenbrand sent a note that I thought I would share with everyone:
I just posted a blog about New York State Marriage Records, 1908-1935. This is a grouping of records that has always been open to viewing and thought that some of your readers might be interested.

Indeed, I suspect that many people will be interested. Thanks, Dick, for passing that along.
From my reading of Mr. Hillenbrand's blog, these records are not available online, but rather on microfilm through LDS. Though it is great to know these records are available, it's another thing to say they are online. You might want to change the title of this entry in order not to cause undue excitement.

The Italian Genealogical Group has had NYC Bride and Groom list indexes online for quite some time now, and with a larger year range:

Yes, David, the IGG does have some great stuff that I've found quite useful in my research, but it's mostly limited to New York City, and actually has some big gaps for the dates in question. For instance, there is no bride index to Manhattan.
(And I would suggest using Stephen Morse's page to search the IGG records: http://stephenmorse.org/ )
Also, Mr. Hillenbrand blog is entitled "Upstate NY Genealogy Notes" which would not include New York City. The undue excitement I warned about would be a reaction to the title which states that 1908-1935 NY State (outside the city) were actually online. Mr. Hillenbrand's entry makes clear they are rather available through LDS on microfilm. (I suppose when the LDS digitization project is finished, they will be online. That seems to be a good ways off, though)

Hello, I'm doing research in Norway. I know my grandfather was from Odalen however I don't know where. I've tried looking at the web site called WebMeta in Sor Odalen and Nor Odalen Norway. The problem is there is 7000 names in each one of them to go through and if I leave the web site, when I go back I have to start all over I can't begin to get through it all. Any suggestions? I would appreciate any suggestions. I know he was born in 1875 and there is no census for that year in that area. The closest I can come is 1865. Unfornatatly I don't have a name for great grandparents. A possible name for greatgrandmother is Elisabeth. No maiden name though. Thank you in advance for any help. Barb
