Podcast: TNG with Darrin Lythgoe
The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding© ("TNG") is a powerful tool to manage and display your genealogy data on the Internet, all without generating a single page of HTML. This powerful, but easy-to-use, program runs on a web server. You can listen to Dick Eastman's interview of TNG's author Darrin Lythgoe as Darrin describes the program's strengths and many features.
This 38-minute interview may be played on any modern computer that either has speakers or headphones attached. This podcast may also be downloaded to an iPod or other portable music player.
To listen to the interview, click on the "play" button located to the left of the long bar below. To download, click on the link for "MP3 File."
You can also listen to the podcast or download it to an iPod at iTunes.

Are these PodCasts still going to be avaiable through the iTunes store?
The last one I've received I just realised is from 7/1/2006 about the FGS Conference in Boston, and at least at 1:13 PM on Sunday 5 Nov the TNG podcast isn't there yet.
I'm a TNG user, and I LOVE IT!!!!!
I don't use it as my only genealogy software - I use Reunion, and when I want to update TNG I export a GEDCOM from Reunion, and import that into TNG - about a 3-4 minute process for my 15,000 person file - longer of course for my 69,000 person file.
The support from Darrin is unbelievable, the support from the rest of the TNG community is also about the best I've experienced too.
Cheers
Roger

The Podcasts will continue to be available through iTunes. It does take a day or two to reach iTunes. (That's under iTune's control, not mine.) The podcast was only uploaded here about 2 AM this monring so it may be a while before it "propagates" to iTunes.
The podcasts here are sporadic. As I wrote in the first article that announced the new podcasts:
"I expect these interviews to be available on a more or less random schedule. I am not defining a rigid schedule of podcasts in advance. The podcasts will not be broadcast daily or weekly. Instead of having regularly scheduled podcasts, I am planning to make new interviews available as I can schedule interviewees."

I'd like to thank Dick again for the opportunity to talk with him about TNG. The links to the TNG and TNG Network sites are mentioned in the podcast, but for convenience sake I'd like to mention them here as well:
TNG: http://www.tngsitebuilding.com
TNG Network: http://tngnetwork.lythgoes.net
Sincerely,
Darrin Lythgoe

OK Thanks. I've downloaded the file and imported it into iTunes for now, and iTunes will get me the PodCast when it's available.
I was listening to it from your home page, then clicked the Comments link to write the message, and D'Oh - the PodCast stopped LOL.

Dick, as of December 28, this podcast is still not up on iTunes where I subscribe to your podcasts when they're available.
I came back and downloaded the interview from your newsletter to my desktop but it won't import into iTunes Podcasts. It imports into the iTunes Music Library only which is not where I want my podcasts.
Possibly there's a technical problem in the way it has been formatted? Maybe that's why it doesn't show up on your podcast list @ iTunes either. Isn't a MP3 file for music? Just a thought. Trying to figure out why it isn't coming through my subscription to your podcasts through iTunes.
