Family Historian 3.1 Released
Calico Pie Limited has announced the company's latest release of its popular genealogy program for Windows. Family Historian appears to be the best-selling genealogy program in England and also has many users in other countries around the world.
The following is an announcement written by Calico Pie Ltd.:
LONDON, Friday 15th December, 2006. Calico Pie today announced the release of version 3.1 of Family Historian. The new version will be available to users of version 3.0 as a free downloadable upgrade.
Simon Orde, Managing Director of Calico Pie, describing the new release:
"This is another big upgrade for Family Historian. Some of the enhancements in 3.1 build on the tremendous advances that Family Historian made in version 3.0. For example, there are even more enhancements to diagrams. You now have even more control over diagram layout, over pictures (e.g. you can fade them if you wish to use them as background pictures), and lines (e.g. you can use crossed- out lines for divorced couples or dotted lines for never-married couples). We've also made changes to make the program easier and more fun to use. We've completely re-worked the Help system, made more information available in the Help, and easier to find; and we've added keyboard shortcuts that users asked for. At the same time, we've also added various features to give users instant access to information they need. For example, you can specify that a given Individual is the file 'root' and then see at a glance how each person in the file is related to the file root - in the Records Window, in diagrams, in queries, in reports, or wherever. Another example is dates. Family Historian will now show you estimated dates for individuals even if you haven't got any actual dates stored for them. There's a new query that lets you work out who might have been alive at any given date.
"As well as the big new features, there are a great many small enhancements. Often it's the small things that make all the difference to how well a feature works in practice and how much users enjoy using the program.
"Finally, we've added new International features, including allowing users a choice of U.S. English or U.K. English."
Summary of Key New Features in Version 3.1

If I switch to the newFamily Historian 3.i must I enter all of my family information again? I now use Family Tree Maker. Will that info move over into Family Historian without any efforts by me?
