Newsletter reader Patricia Montalvo Calandra sent an interesting e-mail message this week. Patricia writes:
I am the President of the Puerto Rican/ Hispanic Genealogical Society. We are looking for Volunteers for an indexing project of the 1935 Special census of Puerto Rico.
We can use as many volunteers as we can get. It is a large project. The volunteers do not have to be Spanish speaking. Some of the names may be unusual.
Not only was there a population census taken but also an agricultural one for the same time period. We are working with the National Archives and Records Administration in New York City to be able to have this index available on site as well as on our website. Anyone who is interested may contact me directly.
Thanks you for your time and support.
