Thanks for posting the information on Diane Dieterle. I knew her many years ago in Atlanta and attended many of her Genealogy workshops. She was a great pioneer in using the computer in doing genealogy and taught me a lot when I first got into computer technology. She will be missed.

I would love to learn about the 13 Family Histories that Diane Shutley Dieterle published. Is it possible to access and read them. What a wonderful lifetime. It is a great example to all of us. Thank heaven for people who devote their time and talents to those things that are "everlasting". Yes, she will be missed.

I have recently become aware of the research of Diane Dieterle. One
of the books she compiled was William Booton of Culpeper County, VA
and his Descendants. I am one of those descendants and would like to
purchase a copy of that book that was published in 1996 by BookCrafters
in Chelsea, MI. Any help or advice you could give me would be very
much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi --

I met Diane in the fall of 1992 while she was compiling a book on my family "Descendants of Thomas Smithson of Baltimore County, Maryland: The Family of Dr. Hugh Franklin Smithson, Jr." which was published in 1993.

At that time I was a 12 year old youngster who had been involved in genealogy since I was about 8. I have a box of the material that she collected to compile the Smithson Genealogy.

Diane was a very nice lady and very knowledgeable in the field of genealogy.

Thank you,

Chris Smithson

I was stunned to just learn of the death of Diane. I just finished moving and was going through my family history things when I came across the order form for the John Pepper & Elizabeth DuVall book she wrote. I wanted to order one but did not at the time have the money. I sent her some things to be included in the book. If anyone knows where I can get a copy of the book please let me know.

My prayers are with her family.
