Logan County's History goes on CD
Researching Logan County, Illinois history has just become easier.
Stringer's "History of Logan County," has long been the bible for historians far and near seeking information about the early years of the county. Now the book is available on searchable CD from the Logan County Genealogical and Historical Society.
Judge Lawrence Stringer, who authored the original book, was intimately acquainted with many of the early pioneers of Logan County. His history book is a combination of his personal discussions with those early settlers, coupled with thorough research. The book was initially published in 1911, in two volumes and with no index.
In 1978, Lincoln Public Library sponsored the printing of a reproduction of the book. The 1978 edition combined the two volumes into one with an index provided by librarian Chris Gilson.
With the new CD, The Logan County Genealogical and Historical Society has provided another update.
