LOOK AT ME

Wwba_1 LOOK AT ME is a collection of found photos. The web site is a repository of found pictures. The collection contains 616 photos that were either lost, forgotten, or thrown away. The images now are nameless, without connection to the people they show, or the photographer who took them.

Some of the photos were found on the street. Some were stacked in a box, bought cheap at a flea market. The project started with a few photos found by Frederic Bonn and Zoe Deleu in a Paris street in 1998. The collection now contains 616 photos and the web site operators are asking for still more.

You can view this interesting project at: http://www.moderna.org/lookatme/index.html.

My thanks to Cheryl McGregor for telling me about this web site.

I tried the link several ways and the web page will not come up. Is there another way to connect to it?

I just clicked on the link and it worked perfectly.

When I clicked on the link given in the newsletter, I got the error page, but it had links to Home, Photo Archives, Contact, etc. I clicked on Photo Archives, and they came up just fine. No problems.

When you go to the above link there is an error message. Clicking on the "Home" link sends you here -

Be sure and read "About".

The link works better if you drop the "index.html" part.

I got a complete error message the first time, but it's probably due to heavy traffic.

After looking at this website, I am wondering what the purpose is? Is it only to look at? I have been collecting pictures for years and would love to find their families so they can have them. Most of mine have names. Is this what this site is for? If not I am looking into starting a site for just that purpose. I will give what photo's I have free. It warms my heart when I look at my ancesters pictures, and if I can share that with another person I will feel great. Any Suggestions or knowledge. Please email me @ d_vaisey@hotmail.com

What a great site. I have lots of pictures but my mother never put names on them and my cousins and I never saw most of the older relatives because they all died young. Maybe if I post some of them someone will know who they are and then I could find the rest of the family.
Thanks for sharing this side

DeadFred.com and AncientFaces.com are other great sites for lost & unidentified photos. Both accept submissions, so there's no need to re-invent the wheel.

I looked at the site but it didn't appear that the pictures were organized in any way, such as by date or place found - or something! I agree that DeadFred.com does a better job in that regard.
