I had a great day this past Saturday. I flew to San Diego on Friday and attended a joint meeting of the The Computer Genealogy Society of San Diego and The San Diego Genealogical Society. I gave several talks to the 186 attendees. I also managed to find a couple of good Mexican meals, something that is difficult to find where I live. I then grabbed a red-eye flight home on Saturday evening.
I'd write a description of the genealogy meeting, but I just found that Steve Danko has already done so. In fact, after reading Steve's write-up, I think I need to hire him as my PR person! He wrote a rather detailed description of each of my presentations as well as the facility where it was held. Steve lives in the San Francisco area. Like myself, he flew to San Diego Friday just to attend the Saturday meeting, then flew back home shortly after.
You can read Steve Danko's excellent description of the day at http://stephendanko.com/blog/2007/05/13/report-all-day-seminar-and-luncheon-with-dick-eastman. While there, you might like to read some of Steve's other excellent articles. He writes a lot about his personal genealogy research and even includes many scanned images of the original documents he finds. You can start at http://stephendanko.com.
I'd like to offer my thanks to the the The Computer Genealogy Society of San Diego and The San Diego Genealogical Society for a great day!
