An Interview with Maggie Laughran

While at the recent National History Show in London, I had a chance to interview Maggie Laughran. Maggie is the Administrator of the Federation of Family History Societies, one of the largest genealogy organizations in England. Maggie described the activities of the organization and provided a lot of information about resources available in England.

The interview was videotaped by Roots Television, and you can watch it right now on your computer.

To view the video, click on the above image. If that does not work for you, you can also view it by going to http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid429035835/bclid240119644/bctid900702978

Hint: If you are on a dial-up Internet connection, you may encounter "jerkiness" as the video downloads and tries to play. If so, simply click on PAUSE. You will then see the video continue to download in the background, and it will be stored temporarily on your hard drive. Then click PLAY once again, and it should be much smoother as the video is retrieved from your hard drive at full speed.

My thanks to Maggie Laughran for taking time out of her very busy schedule at the conference to talk with me and with Roots Television.

If you wait for a second or two at the end of the video, it will load still more videos from the same National History Show in London.

If you have not seen Roots Television lately, I would suggest that you go to http://www.RootsTelevision.com and see what else is available on this growing resource. The owners of the site have been adding a lot of content, and it is now becoming both an entertaining and educational site for genealogists in many countries. I think you will be very impressed with the many offerings available at http://www.RootsTelevision.com.

I was sorry to hear that the word 'actually' epidemic had spread across the sea. Still just seven or so in a seven minute interview is fairly admirable.

Nice to see the reports on the National Family History show from London.
Pity that, so far at least, the interviews have been with the genealogical B list (Maggie Loughran and Paul Blake). Are we going to hear from the A list - Else Churchill (Society of Genealogists), Roger Kershaw and William Spencer (both from The National Archives) and even Nick Barrett (from Who Do You Think You Are?)?

More videos will be available in the next few days, including one "A-list" interview.
