BBC Wales recently ran a story about a group of Americans who returned to visit the birthplace of their ancestor. Dr. Thomas Wynne left Caerwys, North Wales in 1672. He traveled to the New World with fellow Quaker William Penn. The group even visited the room where their ancestor held secret Quaker meetings.
It is an interesting program that may inspire you to make a trip to your ancestor's homeland. You can view the entire story if you click on the above icon.
I hope this program does inspire people to visit their ancestors' homes. Nothing compares. A cousin and I had a wonderful experience when we visited the town in which our Irish ancestors had settled in England. We found the house in which our great great grandparents had lived and it appeared to be vacant. So we walked right up and started looking in through the windows. Well, it turned out there was someone inside - a worker getting the house ready for its newest owners. When we explained why we were there, he invited us in and gave us a tour. We had a great time walking on the floors our ancestors had walked on and trying to imagine how four adults and five children had lived in such a small house.
