At the recent National History Show in London, I had a chance to talk with Chris Pomery, author of the book "DNA and Family History." Chris is one of the leading DNA experts who specialize in genealogy applications for DNA. He is also about to release a new book entitled "In the Genes."
You can see this video by clicking on the link below:
If that does not work for you, you can also view it by going to http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid464120989/bclid240119644/bctid932533537
Hint: If you are on a dial-up Internet connection, you may encounter "jerkiness" as the video downloads and tries to play. If so, simply click on PAUSE. You will then see the video continue to download in the background, and it will be stored temporarily on your hard drive. Then click PLAY once again, and it should be much smoother as the video is retrieved from your hard drive at full speed.
If you have not seen Roots Television recently, I would suggest that you go to http://www.RootsTelevision.com and see what else is available on this growing resource. The owners of the site have been adding a lot of content and it is now becoming both an entertaining and educational site for genealogists in many countries. I think you will be very impressed with the many offerings available at http://www.RootsTelevision.com.
Chris Pomery seems an amiable chap. I'm learning about DNA as applied to genealogy and I've more questions than he or Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak together would have time to answer. One basic question, however, relates to my DNA as compared to my MATERNAL grandfather and his ancestors. I know mit-DNA from my Mum would help with HER Mum and her grandMum, but I would like to work on the brickwall created by my MATERNAL grandfather's family.
If anyone reading along here has any information to help, please contact me. You reply here or visit my FREE web site at http://www.ShoeStringGenealogy.com/ssg1.htm.

Regarding DNA. Is it possible for me to find a DNA Analysis (being a female) to connect with my Callahan's on my father's side.

Happy Dae, you need to find a male line relative of your maternal grandfather, your mother's brother for example, or his son, or grandson, and persuade them to take the test. If there are no male line relatives then you are stuck for Y-DNA testing. The same for Mary Palmer: you need to find a male line relative of your father.
