Synium, a German company, has acquired MacFamilyTree. As explained on the program's web site:
Since version 3, MacFamilyTree has been developed by the Synium Software GmbH. Now, with version 5, we completely acquire the project in its entirety from OnlyMac Software, including development, distribution and support. Our long-standing experience within the Mac software market and especially with MacFamilyTree makes for a solid foundation in delivering reliable feature updates, continued support, quick bug-fixes and a true long-term perspective for your favorite genealogy tool.
The same web site also has announced a major new release: version 5. While not yet available, the web site describes the new version as:
MacFamilyTree 5 is the most advanced genealogy software for the Mac.
The fifth release offers an entirely new GUI — a highly modern, graphical user interface that is individually configurable to your needs.
By the use of Apple's revolutionary Core Data technology it is possible to easily sift through huge databases. These may consist of information about tens of thousands of individuals, including digitized photographic images, sound files and movies.
To achieve this, MacFamilyTree 5 has been completely rewritten with the use of the most recent development technique.
In the upcoming weeks we will offer a prerelease of MacFamilyTree 5 for you to download and experiment with the many new features of this entirely redesigned and rewritten version of your favorite genealogy tool.

Is this program simply Family Tree Maker for Mac?
If not, Has Ancestry.com come out for an update to FTM - Mac, as well as the 2008 for Windows?

MacFamilyTree is a completely different program, written by a different company. It is not related to Family TreeMaker in any way. In fact, the company that now produces MacFamilyTree is based in Germany.
Ancestry.com has not announced any plans for future development of the Macintosh version of Family TreeMaker.

Family Treemaker for Mac hasn't been updated since it was Version 3 so long ago that I can't even remember how long ago that was..
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/macinfo.html
contains the official announcement, but I don't see a date there
http://www.macgenealogy.org/unsupported-genealogy-applications/familytreemaker-press-release/
has the announcement of its arrival in early 1997. and this page from 1999
http://www.familytreemagazine.com/articles/june00/programs.html
indicates that even then it lagged far behind the Windows version.
My guess is that Ancestry won't do anything for a software for Macintosh users - heck they can't even get their web site to function identically on a Macintosh, and since I think they're driving people to online genealogy that's where they'd direct any efforts to do something for Macintosh users.

From reading the comments on your site, I assume that the new FTM is not for Macs. Is this correct?
Is it possible to import the information from the old version to the new version?
How do I print the information from FTM?

To Joan Baker ~
I don't know anthing about Mac programs, but if you still need printable forms, this newsletter lists a number of free charts and forms available online for printing and/or downloadng. Go to posts beginning February 21, 2007 for a fairly exhaustive list.
