Footnote.com continues to score praise in the online world. First, the company signed an agreement with the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration to scan millions of valuable historic documents. Then last week it announced a similar agreement to scan millions of documents at the Allen County Public Library, the largest public genealogy library in North America. The company also sponsors this newsletter. Now the prestigious PC Magazine has named the history site as its "Site of the Week."
Lisa Ruefenacht of PC Magazine wrote, "Footnote
provides hands-on access to history through an easily navigable interface and
high-quality scans of previously inaccessible primary sources—scans that users
can search, download, and annotate." She also wrote, "It offers a
great interface, a healthy dose of Web 2.0 technology, and a vast array of
documents previously available only to those willing to sit at a microfilm
reader."
