A Boston-area TMG Users Group has been formed. Of course, "TMG" stands for The Master Genealogist. Ed Feustel organized a meeting of about twenty interested TMG users with a kick-off session held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the New England Historic and Genealogical Society (NEHGS).
The inaugural meeting included a visit by a surprise guest: Bob Velke, president of Wholly Genes Software and the mastermind behind The Master Genealogist. Other guests included John Cardinal, author of Second Site and of TMG Utility. Jim Byrum, a TMG expert user and frequent lecturer, was on hand to help answer questions. I also had a chance to attend this meeting and take notes.
The Boston Area TUG presently is an informal group of interested users and potential users. The group would like to invite all who are interested to attend a meeting. At this time, there are no fees or other expenses. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, November 17 at 1:00 PM. The meeting will probably be held again at the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) at 101 Newbury Street, Boston. You should verify the date, time and location a week or so before the event.
Experienced users will be present at the next meeting to answer your questions about basic and advanced use of the program. Bring your laptops and databases. Copies of the program are also available for sale at NEHGS's store in the same building.
