I am traveling now and haven't had a chance to look at this new program. However, the announcement sounds good.
Synium Software has released an international public beta build of MacFamilyTree 5. Interested users can try the pre-release software out, under the caveat that it is a beta build and crashes and lost data "cannot be completely ruled out".
The software has been completely rewritten using XCode and Cocoa, gaining a new user interface and souped-up database engine. New functions and full Leopard compatibility also feature in the release.
Additional features include a fully animated Family Assistant which dynamically and graphically guides users through the process of creating and maintaining family trees.
The software also offers a new View option, a virtual globe which lets you interactively visualize your family tree through time and space.
MacFamilyTree also integrates a web-hosting service, allowing all registered customers to upload their family trees as HTML to the internet, free of charge.
MacFamilyTree 5 also integrates with .Mac to facilitate sharing of family trees through that service.
