There's an earlier one:

The headstone of Archie A. Arnold (Oct. 18, 1920 - April 21, 1982) sits between two expired parking meters in Scipio Cemetery, Allen Co., IN.

There is also one in the Milton Cemetery in Milton, FL for Jeffrey Dash, 1 Oct 1950-18 Jun 2000.

You've gotta love somebody with a sense of humour! When I go I want to be cremated and my ashes put in one of my cowboy boots. I originally wanted a peanut butter jar but I've gained weight!
Have a great day everybody. Happy hunting!

This photo along with one of the same headstone without the parking meter came to my attention about two months ago. I have communicated with the party that posted the picture without the parking meter and she has not actually seen this stone with the meter. I have checked various sources that identify internet hoaxes and none seem to be able to verify that this actually exists although at least one had seen these pictures. I have located the cemetery and will contact the superintendent to learn if it is for real. The fact that others have heard or seen similar pictures in different parts of the country makes this suspect. If I learn more I'll post it here. HMF

Where's Barbara Manires headstone located, what cemetery in what city?

I checked it out with snope.com Their answer so far is undetermined.

According to the SSDI, Barbara Sue's last residence is: 74859 (Okemah, Okfuskee, OK) and the benefit was sent to: 73773 (Waukomis, Garfield, OK).

According to FindaGrave.com this tombstone is located in Highland Cemetery; Okemah; Okfuskee County; Oklahoma, USA

Huntington Beach, CA, has or had a city-owned store where they sold excess city property. I was told by the manager on duty a few of years ago that someone had bought one of the double parking meters, showing "time expired," to use, not with a headstone, as a double urn for storing ashes (or "cremains," as the funeral industry calles them).

My favorite tombstone photo is the one from a cemetery in Minnesota. The surname of the deceased is "Bye". There is a separate headstone for husband and wife so it says "Bye Bye".

These are true pictures. I am her son. She always told me this is what she wanted, so I made sure she got it. Notice that she passed away on her 64th birthday, so the meter reads 64 year time limit.
It is located in Okemah, Oklahoma. I KNOW she is loving the attention. She wanted to make people smile even after she was gone.

Terry, I hope you visit this page from time to time. I've scoured the net for a contact email for you or your sister. I wanted to let you know that thanks to the internet, your Mom's humor is getting around! Thanks, Barbara for making this world a better place!

to "Tell Your Mom She Made Me Smile", thank you for the kind words.. I know Mom is happy making people still smile. I have seen nothing but good comments about her meter and am amazed at the popularity of it. Thanks again !!!

I remember Barbara always had a great sense of humor Your dad Glen and my dad John were brothers. Write soon

The Stone and parking meter are there. I saw it for the first time in April 2008. I have family buried in the Highland Cemetery and I noticed it as I was leaving and took a picture. It is immediately to the left as you drive into the cemetery.

I had to laugh at this twice, Dick. First at the humorous marker, and then after reading all the interesting comments, at your "no comment necessary." Fun post, and great comments!
