The following announcement will be of interest to many:
The Toronto Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society and the Canadiana Department of the North York Central Library will be co-hosting a one-day workshop on Ontario family and local history research on 23 February 2008. We are looking for speakers who would like to participate.
The theme "Keys to Ontario Research" will encompass lectures about broad record types, record repositories, geographic or historical background, and research methodology. A better understanding of the chosen topic should contribute to more effective Ontario research.
Workshop attendees will be most interested in lectures emphasizing sources and research techniques that might be useful in their own research. We need lectures at all levels of expertise. Each lecture should be about 50 minutes in duration. Speakers will also be expected to supply a handout to summarize or complement their presentation. (We will look after photocopying it.)
Speakers will be paid an honorarium of $100 per lecture, plus modest expenses.
Please submit your lecture proposals by e-mail. Please keep them brief and informal, at this point. (We may ask for more details later.) Be sure to include your mailing address, phone number and a brief bio.
DEADLINE FOR PROPOSALS: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2007
To submit proposals or to ask a question about the event, please contact Jane MacNamara at info@torontofamilyhistory.org.
