Public Broadcasting had an excellent program last year called "African American Lives." An encore, called "African American Lives 2" is now being planned for broadcast on February 6. It will be hosted by noted Black American historian Henry Louis Gates.
You can watch a 30-second commercial for the program by clicking in the above image or by going to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JR6lm9u2qb4.
The program is scheduled to air at 9:00 PM Eastern time, 8:00 PM Central. You need to check your television listings to see what time it will be aired on your local PBS station.
I will be watching this with the recorder running! Last year's edition was so moving that I shared it with some of my other friends and my students too. One of my adult students actually applied to be the "ordinary" African-American. I wonder if Gates will do any updating of his own family.
