Very glad you're back but, remember to take it easy. All the best for the New Year, Dick.

Pat Evans

Hi, Dick:

Welcome back - we're all glad you're out of the hospital.

My friend, you need to take very good care of yourself right now: rest, take your meds, eat right, etc., etc. so that you develop good habits now that will serve you well for the future.

Please get enough rest and do what your doctor says. The next few weeks are so important - you probably don't even realize how important!

Take good care of yourself now and you will do fine in the future.

In friendship, and with prayers and blessings,
Pat Evans

Dick,
We have missed you but now is the time to take care of yourself and get well.

>>All this confirms my suspicions that the readers of this newsletter are some of the kindest and most thoughtful people around!<<

Well, yes, Dick - what goes around comes around. We think the same about you so of course we are concerned and anxious for you.

Welcome back but as above - please follow your Doctor's orders and do as suggested so that you can get everything organized and get your health back. Been there and done that - it only works if you work at it.

Cheers.

Welcome back! :-)

However, ease back into your routine so that you don't have any setbacks. You have a life adjustment with which you still must deal, new things you must incorporate into your daily routine, and pushing yourself too hard too soon could have adverse effects. So, go gently with yourself, please.

Take care! :-)

Happy Dae

Wonderful!

NOW will you eat your vegetables? :)

Glad to see you back, mate. You've been missed.

Happy Dae.

Dick--I echo everyone's comments. I was so surprised to see your e-mail this morning that you were back! I had expected you to talk several weeks off. Although you would indeed be missed it might be better to just get yourself adjusted to your new life--my husband is a diabetic so I can tell you it is a "new life" -- as everyone said though, do everything your doctor says. Since you are a genealogist I know I do not need to tell you to read, read, read about your diagnosis and learn all you can. The more you know the more you will adapt to your regimen. I know this sounds weird but it is good that you became ill and they finally caught it--you might have had a lot of damage if it had not been found. Diabetes is so insidious and just can lurk for so long. Now that you know about it you can take control and all will be well. Do not mean to get on my soapbox--I was just so happy to see your "I'm back" and want you to always be there. It is like having a good friend who lives far away be ill and you not be able to help.

Have a super holiday and, again--take it easy and listen to your doctor--if you have not yet seen the dietitian--make an appointment today!!

Dick -- please -- take it easy for as long as you need to. This new way of living can be managed, and 'managed' is the correct term :)but it is work. Taking care of ourselves is not what we are used to. Welcome back!

3 Williamson brothers

Glad to see you back, Dick. I bet the stock in 2 wheel vehicles just went up. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Amelia

My husband also has adult onset diabetes and it is very important to follow the doctor's instructions regrdless of the inconvenience. We want you around for a long time. Best wishes for your speedy recovery.

Helen

Glad to see you back by sad to hear what happened. Like everyone else tells you, follow the doctor's orders. I wish you a very speedy recovery!

It's great to hear from you, Dick! Finding you out of the hospital & on the mend is good news, indeed.

Take care of you and please don't rush on our account. We'll all be right here when you've had enough time & mending to be up to writing again. Your health is important to us because you are important to us. Although we've never met in person, you've become an "old friend". I'm so grateful for what you do and the wonderful insights you give all of us. So, if I haven't said it before, thank you!

Take it easy for as long as you need to do so! You're in my prayers!

Penny

Vicki

Glad you are feeling some better. Take care of yourself. Don't push!

Bob

Dick,

I was shocked to see your post...so soon...maybe too soon. It's Christmas: people are shopping, cleaning the house, wrapping presents, sending cards, baking stuff (that isn't too good for YOU) and traveling...in a nutshell we are all busy!

So you sit back, rest, eat right and do all the right things you are supposed to do as a diabetic. Some time after 2008 gets here when we're all sick of seeing the decorations on our neighbor’s homes and the bills that pour in we will gladly welcome you back to our homes/offices via our computers...but until then...PLEASE stay out of the office and off the computer!

You're still in our prayers. We really can't afford to lose a good teacher, trainer, informer and a genealogy buff so young.

Bob

Toni

Glad you have returned. Of course we know that all will be well and in perfect order in a short amount of time. Happy Holidays!

Pam

Welcome Back Dick!
As you can see we are all glad you are doing better but go slow. We are all avid fans of yours and want you around for a long time to keep us aware of all that gones on! Play it safe and slow down for alittle while. Happy Holidays!

Jo

This is good news! So glad you're back. I hope you'll get all the meds in line soon. So important! Of course, we miss you, but we want you well. So, listen to your doctor, and don't push too much, too fast. We'll all be here when you're ready to tackle this crowd again! I hope you have a blessed, safe, and healthy holiday! Jo

Dick,
I was shocked to see your post this morning. Glad you are out of the hospital and on the mend. By all means do follow the Drs. orders as your body has some adjusting to do now that you are diabetic. I have been a reader of your newsletters since day one. Take care and Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
Harvey

Shirley Bush

Dick, so glad to see you back. But do take care of yourself. I too have adult onset diabetes and it is manageable. I reiterate what every one else has said. Watch your diet, listen to your doctor, check with a good dietician and take a class. Check with your doctor about this. Do not push yourself too hard too fast. Happy holiday's to you and your family.
Shirley

Dick
I, too, got adult onset diabetes. Listen to the good advice already given, but don't -for heaven's sake - try to change everything all at once. Remember you can eat everything you used to eat, only less of it and perhaps less often. Drinking - soda in my case- was the biggest challenge.
You've been such a great help to all of us, it's only natural we'd want the best for you. As someone else mentioned, you've become a valued friend, and we're glad you found out about your diabetes before it progressed too far.
Hang in there, and have a good holiday.
John

Donna Ulrich

Hi Dick; Remember the instructions the airplane attendents give you, "Put the oxygen on yourself first so you can take care of who ever is depending on you." We all depend on you for your incredible advice and information. So, take care of yourself first. We can wait.

Do take advantage of all the education on diabetes which will be coming your way. It's the best way to living with diabetes and avoiding pitfalls.

Happy Holidays and many thanks.

Donna

Shirley Mansfield

Hi Dick, So happy to see you are out of the hospital and on the mend. Please take care of yourself. Diabetes runs in my family, too, so I know the regimen. It is manageable, if not exactly what we wish to do. All of us will still be here when you are able to return to the newsletter in good health. Thank you for all you have done for us, and just take care of yourself now. Shirley

Glenda

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Happy Holidays.
Glenda

Your friends at AfriGeneas

Welcome back, Dick. Health prayer placed in the jar.

Steve Franklin

Sorry to hear of your health problem and I hope you find the relief you are seeking. I might suggest that you research Chromium and Vanadium treatments for Diabetes. Check the Univ. of Vancouver, British Columbia for info on this. I doubt if your doctor will tell you about them.

Siochan leat,

Steve

Echoing ohters' thanksgivings that you are on the mend and the caution being extended to not try to do too much right away. Lots of good rest and plenty of exercise all during the day and cutting back on the "to-dos" is the ticket for now.

Give yourself a nice break until after the holidays -- enjoy life and your second chance at good health.

Bette Larsen

So glad you are back, but do rest and eat right. We would surely miss you. Merry Christmas.

Dee Ferris

Hi Dick,

I'm so sorry to hear about your illness! Take good care of yourself and have a relaxing holiday season. We're so glad you are back!

Kind regards,

Dee

Polly

Hi Dick,
So glad you're out of the hospital. Like many other of your loyal readers/fans, I hope you take the time for yourself right now. As Bob so nicely put it, we're all terribly busy at this time of year, so we can occupy ourselves with frantic Christmas activities whilst you adapt to your new lifestyle in peace! Right now all we really need to hear about is how you're doing!

Shirley Chaisson

Nice to see you back so soon Dick. Hope things come along smoothly for you. You didn't mention how your eyesight is, and I'm conderned about that. Will keep you in my prayers for a complete recovery.

Happy Holidays

Martha

Welcome back Dick. I am so glad you are feeling better and wish you a healthy happy New Year!
Martha

Joyce

Dick, glad you are back and feeling better. Have a special holiday season.

Cathie

So glad you on the mend.....please take good care of yourself...you are a real gem...and so full of knowledge and you pass it on to others. I know you are a compulsive personality....but we want to around for a long, long time...so take it easy.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Cathie

Marilyn

Glad you're back, take it easy for awhile. Merry Christmas!!

Carolyn
